Welcome to My Ultimate Hike Page
43 children are diagnosed with cancer EACH day, and sadly, most of them do not survive. How do I know this? Because nine years ago, my then 17 year old daughter, Emily was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) and just a short five months after her diagnosis, she was gone. Since that time, I have become an advocate for childhood cancer research. Unfortunately, most of the treatment and protocols for treating childhood cancer are those used to treat adult cancer. In 20 years there have only been three new drugs introduced to help cure childhood cancer. To me, this is simply unacceptable.
And so.............I hike. I hike to honor Emily. I hike to share her story. I hike for all of the children I have met since being placed in the world of childhood cancer. Some of those children are survivors....sadly, most of them are not. I hike to raise much needed money for research and to develop clinical trials so that maybe one day, childhood cancer will no longer exist. Honestly? I hike because I have to do something to help.
If you are looking for an adventure that will forever change you as a person - then here it is. I am so excited to participate in my 9th Ultimate Hike, a program of CureSearch for Children's Cancer! The funds we raise supports their mission to fund and support targeted and innovative children's cancer research!
We need your help to be successful! Please, join our team, register as an individual, or just make a donation on our behalf.
