27 miles to tell children's cancer to take a hike!
Children with cancer need our help now more than ever, so this September I'll be lacing up and hiking 27 miles all in one day on the Pacific Crest Trail in S. California to raise critical funds for CureSearch's cutting-edge research programs directed specifically to children with cancer.
Cancer is the leading cause of disease death in children in this country with 16,000 children diagnosed each year (43 a day!). Of those who survive, 2 out of 3 will develop at least one chronic health condition due to the toxic treatments they receive. Our children deserve better, and CureSearch is leading the way.
Many of you know this is very personal to my own family back in 2004-5. Although we are thankfully through that scary journey now, I remember thinking as a parent even then that CureSearch was leading the way in safe and effective treatment options specifically for children diagnosed with cancer.
There’s still so far to go though. I'm training hard right now so I can take care of the miles in September, but I need your help raising funds. If you're able, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to help tell children's cancer to take a hike. Better yet, let me know if you'd like to lace up and join me!
