Josh Sheldon's Ultimate Hike
Thank you for visiting my Ultimate Hike page!
I wish I could say my life has been untouched by cancer; but the sad truth is that Cancer is a pervasive monster that has touched the lives of nearly everyone, either directly or indirectly. It has left devastating scares on most that it touches. Some of these scares are visible, others are not.
I grew up in a small community that had more than its fair share of afflicted individuals. From the classmate who had a leg amputated as a result of cancer to the devastation and turmoil that the medical bills and hours of hospital stays did to the families of those directly affected by cancer. I count myself lucky that my life has not been directly impacted by this monster. This beast made itself known across the community and impacted all of us. I know that my childhood was altered by this and other pervasive childhood diseases.
As a kid that fought my own medical demons I did what I could to help others. Be that the St. Jude Bikeathon by riding hundreds of miles to help support medical research or assisting in organizing fundraising efforts for those more directly impacted in the community. I learned at a young age that you should always extend a helping hand where you can.
I now find myself needing to do something again. To that end I am participating in a true ultimate challenge - hiking to raise funds for children's cancer and with your help, I can surpass my fundraising goal! Please, make a donation and make a difference in the lives of the 43 children diagnosed with cancer easy.
The money will support CureSearch for Children's Cancer, a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support targeted and innovative children's cancer research, with measurable results. In addition, they are the authoritative source for information resources about children's cancer for families and their support systems.
Thank you again. Please help support my hike and the work that CureSearch is doing to end Childhood Cancer.
