Welcome to My Ultimate Hike Page
Thanks for visiting my Ultimate Hike page!
On October 6th I will participate in my fifth Ultimate Hike in memory of my beautiful niece Lesley. Diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma at 11, she endured numerous surgeries and treatments until she passed away at 18, just weeks after high school graduation. She went through her battle with courage and dignity, never complaining or losing that adorable, dimpled smile. When June comes each year she is always on my mind as I imagine all the adventures in life she has missed.
Think of all the growing and exploring a young person experiences between 18 and 29. College, first "real" job, renting that first apartment, buying a car, getting a mortgage, serious relationships, engagement and marriage, travel, parenthood...the list is endless. It's heartbreaking that so many children like her have been robbed of the chance to experience so many things.
Since the year we had to say goodbye to our sweet Lesley, thanks to organizations like CureSearch, research has been funded to find better treatments for Ewings, as well as other pediatric cancers. Check out Children's Cancer Research on the CureSearch website for more information.
So in honor of Lesley, and the 43 children diagnosed with cancer every day, I will lace up my boots once again and hike 30 miles in one day. I have contributed the first $100 but cannot do this alone. Please consider donating to help me reach my goal. No donation is too small and every donation is appreciated!
More information about the organization, funding and statistics about the prevalence of childhood cancer can be found on their website.
THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME TELL PEDIATRIC CANCER TO TAKE A HIKE!
