All For Sam - Welcome to My Ultimate Hike Page
Thanks for visiting my Ultimate Hike page!
Greetings to my friends and family!
I have made an important commitment to some very special kids, and I am hoping you will join me! To begin, let me share a story…
In the photos, there is one of one my very favorite humans, with one of her very favorite humans, my little sister, Lisa Wahl and her one-and-only, my brother-in-love, Jason.
Together, they have given us two of the coolest little dudes, Silas and Sam. I really, really love these boys.
In September of 2015, when Sam was just 2½, Lisa and Jason heard the words, “your son has leukemia” for the first time. There is also a photo of Sam, when he was sick, but we didn’t know it yet.
Friends, cancer is pretty terrible, but I’ve got to tell you, it is an unimaginable pain to watch a child fight and suffer and get up the next morning and fight again. It is even more unimaginable to see that brave kiddo do all that fighting with a smile on his face. Look!
Have you ever seen anything more inspiring? There are things in these smiling photos that not everyone can see, like the effects of chemo, steroids, and setbacks from common and not-so-common illnesses.
On Saturday, August 25th, I will be lacing up my hiking boots on the Superior Trail to log 25.5 miles in an effort to support an organization that supports kids like Sam. Cure Search is pretty cool. Not only do they fund research that is exclusively, exhaustively looking to end childhood cancer, they are also researching ways to deal with the devastating side-effects of cancer treatment. One of the hardest phrases for me to hear when I share that my nephew has cancer is, “Oh, they can totally cure leukemia nowadays!” Yep, I agree, childhood leukemia has a very encouraging cure rate, but friends, this road is HARD!! hard, hard, hard, hard, hard, hard, hard, hard, hard. hard.
Can you help an auntie out? I need to raise $2400 before I get to lace up those boots. I would be grateful for any amount of support you can give. We can be partners, you and I, in this effort to work towards a day when no more parents will hear the words, “your child has cancer.” Please? it’s so very important. You can donate online, or send me a check made out to cure search. I will hug the dickens outta you next time I see you. I promise.
With great love, Tammy

I am participating in a true ultimate challenge - hiking to raise funds for children's cancer and with your help, I can surpass my fundraising goal! Please, make a donation and make a difference in the lives of the 43 children diagnosed with cancer each day.
The money I raise will support CureSearch for Children's Cancer, a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support targeted and innovative children's cancer research, with measurable results. In addition, they are the authoritative source for information resources about children's cancer for families and their support systems.
Five of the 43 children diagnosed every day do not survive. Please, support me as I help change the odds for those children most at risk.
Thank you for helping me work tell children's cancer to take a hike!
