Welcome to My Ultimate Hike Page
Thanks for visiting my Ultimate Hike page!
In memory of my late husband Stefan Zedlacher, I am participating in a true ultimate challenge - hiking to raise funds for children's cancer and with your help, I can surpass my fundraising goal! Please, make a donation and make a difference in the lives of the 43 children diagnosed with cancer each day.
At the age of 18, as Stefan was about to graduate from high school, he was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer typically found in children and young adults. Given a 20% chance to see his 21st birthday, Stefan fought fiercly for 8 years, always with a smile on his face and a love of life in his heart. Stefan passed away at the age of 26 in 2012, leaving a massive whole in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
A Colorado native and lover of the great outdoors, Stefan passed along his passion for nature to me, his "city girl from Virginia". These days I find strength and connection to Stefan most through time spent in nature, especially hiking. On November 10, two days after what would have been Stefan's 33rd birthday, I will hike 28.3 miles in one day in an effort to raise $2,500 for cancer research.
The money I raise will support CureSearch for Children's Cancer, a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support targeted and innovative children's cancer research, with measurable results. In addition, they are the authoritative source for information resources about children's cancer for families and their support systems.
Five of the 43 children diagnosed every day do not survive. Please, support me as I help change the odds for those children most at risk.
Thank you for helping to tell children's cancer to take a hike!
