Welcome to My Ultimate Hike Page
Thank you for visiting my Ultimate Hike page!
I am participating in a one-day ultimate challenge of hiking 25.5 miles of the Superior Hiking Trail on August 25, 2018 - I am hiking to raise money for children's cancer research. I have sat on the sidelines too long and it is my turn to do something about it. I have watched too many friends endure this battle with their children and I cannot imagine everything that they have gone through. I am committed to this challenge in honor of Megan Wegge who has fought a very long battle and has been in remission for 2 years and is now attending college. I am also doing this in honor of sweet Emma Basting, who is 2 years old and just beginning her fight. Go Emma Go! I am also hiking for Arleigh Williams battling leukemia and her brave brother who was her bone marrow donor. I also am doing this for all of the children that have lost their battle and for the ones currently fighting. With your donation, you will make a difference in the lives of the 43 children diagnosed with cancer each day.
The money I raise will support CureSearch for Children's Cancer, a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support targeted and innovative children's cancer research. In addition, CureSearch is the authoritative source for information resources about children's cancer for families and their support systems.
Not only does CureSearch provide invaluable information and resources to families that enduring this battle, they are changing the outcomes of children’s lives through research, much like the experimental treatment that helped save Megan’s life.
If Megan, Emma and Arleigh and all the other children can endure months of surgeries, chemo, radiation, and horrible side effects, I can endure a one-day hike of 25.5 miles on the rugged Superior Hiking Trail and all of the training leading up to it.
The hard, cold facts of this horrible disease are that of the 43 children diagnosed every day, 5 will not survive and 60% of those survivors will face devastating, lifelong side effects. No child should have to endure this fight and no parent should ever have to bury their child. So, join me in this fight against children's cancer and make that donation!
Thank you so much and I greatly appreciate your donation. I will get a custom made ribbon with your name on it to attach to my backpack and it will start logging miles on the long training hikes as well as the big day and then I will send it to you after the hike.
Now, I’m off to get boots on the ground and to tell children's cancer to TAKE A HIKE! Much Love and Prayers for all of these precious kids,
