Welcome to My Ultimate Hike Page
Thanks for visiting my Ultimate Hike page!
Let's just say it - cancer is personal. I have lost too many family members and friends to this many-headed monster. We all know someone who is battling or has battled with this terrible disease. Some of these loved ones are adults but every day 43 of those loved ones receiving a diagnosis are children.
I am participating in a true ultimate challenge - hiking to raise funds for children's cancer and with your help, I can surpass my fundraising goal! Please, make a donation and make a difference in the lives of the 43 children diagnosed with cancer each day.
The money I raise will support CureSearch for Children's Cancer, a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support targeted and innovative children's cancer research, with measurable results. In addition, they are the authoritative source for information resources about children's cancer for families and their support systems.
In the last 40 years, the overall survival rate for children’s cancer has increased from 10% to nearly 90% today, but for many more rare childhood cancers, the survival rate is much less. 12% of children who are diagnosed with cancer do not survive. 60% of children who do survive suffer devastating late effects such as secondary cancers, muscular difficulties and infertility.
In addition to raising funds for CureSearch, I am also commiting to chopping my locks once again for Wigs for Kids.
If I raise $1,500 by October 5th, I will chop 12 inches off my hair to donate.
If I raise $3,000 by October 5th, I will chop 15 inches off my hair to donate.
If I raise $5,000 or more by October 5th before I finish my hike, I will chop down to a pixie cut and donate all length.
Please, support me as I help change the odds for those children most at risk.
Thank you for helping me tell children's cancer to take a hike!
