Welcome to My Ultimate Hike Page
I want to thank all my friends who supported me last year in raising money for childhood cancer research through CureSearch's Ultimate Hike. The 28.3 mile hike (actually 30.2 by the time you get back to the parking lot) as a whole was great, but there were moments of tears, my knee hurt on the last downhills and the last couple miles were 'irritating'. But that is nothing compared to what kids with cancer and their families have to endure.
So... what else to do, but to gear up and do it again! The 10th annual Foothills Trail Ultimate Hike is April 15thThough the training and the fund-raising and the hike itself are challenging, I want to do it again so that these kids with cancer will have a chance to take a long hike as an 50+ year old adult. While the fundraising requirement is $2400, I would like to up my goal to $5000. With your support, we can do it!
This year's hike is on April 25th. It is the 10th annual Foothills Trail Ultimate Hike. Last year Eric and I trained by hiking 12 trails for a total of 140 miles before the event. I would like to up that to 160 miles this year. If you add in the Ultimate Hike itself, that will be about 190 miles. I am hoping that some friends will give $1/mile, or maybe $0.50/mile or $0.25/mile. With your help, I can reach and even surpass my fundraising goal!
The money I raise will support CureSearch for Children's Cancer, a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support targeted and innovative children's cancer research, with measurable results. In addition, they are the authoritative source for information resources about children's cancer for families and their support systems. Parents of children with cancer need community support, but what they really want to hear is someone telling them that their is a cure. CureSearch is committed to looking for that cure.
Thank you for helping me do my small part to tell children's cancer to take a hike!
