Welcome to My Ultimate Hike Page
Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to be here. I truly hate that we are here because of the devastation that cancer brings to so many lives. I have been very lucky - pediatric cancer has not personally effected me or my family. But that is not the case for so many people and that is why I continue to hike for a cure.
In 2019, I saw an event at REI about some crazy 30-mile hike in one day. I thought to myself, "I like to hike. I like the outdoors. This should be fun." Instead, I found myself in this meeting listening to strangers share their stories of losing a child and it took every ounce of me not to sob uncontrolably.
While I was choking back tears (and rubbing my eyes like I had some sort of weird eye infection), I also heard tremendous hope, love and comradery that made the tears spill over. I knew that I HAD to be a part of this.
So what does one do when they are on a mission? Rope in your unsuspecting husband, of course! I signed us up on the spot and the rest is history.
We bought more gear.
We hiked 30 flipping miles in one day (13 hours and 45 minutes to be exact!)
I am a lifer now! I will do this hike until I cannot walk anymore. To make sure that our legacy will continue, Bob and I recruited our kids to hike with us this year! Those poor souls have NO IDEA what is in store for them! But it is worth it. Every blister, leg cramp, complaint and tear is ALL worth it.
Because ultimately, we have it easy. It's the kids that have been fighting for their lives that have it hard. Not us and I remind myself of that with every 63,640 step.
Thank you for your support. What's better than your generousity? You joining us!!! Take a look at CureSearch and The Ultimate Hike. This is their 10th year and they have hikes all around the country. Selfishly, I would like for you to join me but hey, if you are hundreds of miles away, you can always participate with another group of Ultimate Hikers. They are all a little crazy like me but you cannot find larger hearts anywhere else.
I hike in memory of Ellie Marie Blaine. I have never had the honor to meet this beautiful girl but she continues to inspire me every day.
Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU
