Ultimate Hike Page - In Memory of Sherry Thomas
Thanks for visiting my Ultimate Hike page!
I read about the Ultimate Hike and thought, what a great challenge! Train for a 22+ mile hike - I have been looking for such a program to help me get in better shape and improve my health. And the challenge of such a long hike appealed to me. But this challenge has a bigger purpose. To support CureSearch and end childhood cancer. It's a lofty individual goal of $2,500 per hiker and I am asking for your help. Please make a donation and make a difference in the lives of the 43 children diagnosed with cancer each day.
Five of those 43 children diagnosed every day do not survive. Children like my big sister, Sherry. She was diagnosed in 1970, at age 15, with a malignant, inoperable tumor on her brainstem. She passed away at age 22, she was so very young and full of potential. Every child or young adult that we lose to cancer leaves a void that impacts generations. The loss of human potential is staggering. Please support me as I help change the odds for those children most at risk.
The money we raise will support CureSearch for Children's Cancer, a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support targeted and innovative children's cancer research, with measurable results. In addition, they are the authoritative source for information resources about children's cancer for families and their support systems.
I will post updates on my training progress on my Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/donate/2391984271087125/. Thank you for helping me tell children's cancer to take a hike!
