Welcome to My Ultimate Hike Page
In February 2019, I got a phone call that shook my belief system to the core. One of my very dear friends was in the hospital with her son, trying to determine why he was struggling with his appetite and headaches. A simple January visit to the doctor had yet to end - her baby boy had been admitted for a mass on his brain. Soon, Evan was diagnosed with pediatric medulloblastoma.
What do you do with that? You do the only thing you know to do - you rally around your friend and her family. Her church community joined us as we did what we could to help the family with their basic needs so that Evan's parents concentrate on his medical care. The doctors worked tirelessly on an aggressive treatment plan to treat Evan's tumor and prevent his cancer from spreading any further.
I've learned two things from these last few months: first, the strength and hope that we give to one another can make amazing things happen. Second, I learned that science has progressed phenomenally over the last several decades in the fight against cancer.
Medical progress can only happen if we invest in research. That is why I'm asking you to support me as I hike to raise funds for CureSearch, a research foundation dedicated to ending childhood cancer. We don't have to be helpless in the fight against childhood cancer.
I will be traveling from St. Louis to Houston, Texas to hike 22.7 miles in support of CureSearch. It will be a grueling day, but it's nothing to compared to what Evan has to endure during his 56 weeks of treatment. I thank you for your support, both of Evan's family and of CureSearch.
