Welcome to My Ultimate Hike Page
Thanks for visiting my Ultimate Hike page!
I am participating in a true ultimate challenge - hiking 28.3 miles to raise funds for children's cancer and with your help, I can surpass my fundraising goal! Please, make a donation and make a difference in the lives of the 43 children diagnosed with cancer each day.
Cancer is a word heard much too often in my family. My first introduction was July 15, 2011 when my brother, Kenneth, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at the age of 13. This began a a year-long endeavor with him spending approximately 200 days out of his year of treatment in the hospital. He has been cancer free since June 23, 2012! My amazing warrior cousin, Victoria, just finished her last radiation treatment and received clean scans! In 2016, my family welcomed my foster brothers into our house. One of my brothers, Kirk, had Ewing sarcoma and had been battling it for years prior to joining our family. On October 2, 2016 my brother finally received the peace he greatly deserved at the age of 17.
While holding my brothers' hands through their treatments I have met many others who are on this journey; either as siblings or children with cancer. I have also been to way to many funerals of children who were not given enough time on this earth.
The money I raise will support CureSearch for Children's Cancer, a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support targeted and innovative children's cancer research, with measurable results. In addition, they are the authoritative source for information resources about children's cancer for families and their support systems.
Five of the 43 children diagnosed every day do not survive. Please, support me as I help change the odds for those children most at risk.
Thank you for helping me work tell children's cancer to take a hike!
