Welcome to my Ultimate Hike Fundraising Hub!
Currently, one in eight children diagnosed with cancer die as a result of their illness. As many as 60% of those that survive suffer devastating lifelong side effects that could make even an easy afternoon hike insurmountable.
When I lace up my hiking boots lately, it is not solely with my love of the outdoors in mind. For the next several weeks, I will be training to participate in CureSearch's Ultimate Hike for Children's Cancer Research. My goal is to complete a 24-mile section of the Foothills Trail -- across my home state of South Carolina -- in one very long November day, rain or shine, while raising $3,000 for lifesaving children's cancer research.
I am pursuing this not only to accomplish a personal goal but to raise money that will help children diagnosed with cancer access safer treatments that will allow them to go on to lead long, healthy lives. Taking on a couple dozen miles over the course of a day seems the very least I can do.
