2019 Ultimate Hike - Canaan Valley

Alek's Avengers

Thanks for visiting our Ultimate Hike page!  Meet Alek...the kiddo for which this journey began!
A very close friend of ours has a child who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 2. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia to be precise. We watched a fiercely spirited toddler undergo toxic treatment after treatment, gain unnecessary weight due to steroids, and go through numerous other health impacting ordeals. That toddler, Alek, whom we are hiking in honor of and is pictured above, is now nearing 9 and thankfully in remission for nearly 6 years. My children love playing with him and know he was sick, as well as the fact that many other kids just like them are sick. So, we decided to ask them if they wanted to help other kids, and their immediate response was yes.

So, on June 8th, Michael, age 7, David, age 5, Tommy and I will set out to hike 21 miles, as a family, kids supporting kids.

We are participating in a true ultimate challenge - hiking to raise funds for children's cancer and with your help, we can surpass our fundraising goal! Please, make a donation and make a difference in the lives of the 43 children diagnosed with cancer each day.

The money we raise will support CureSearch for Children's Cancer, a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support targeted and innovative children's cancer research, with measurable results. In addition, they are the authoritative source for information resources about children's cancer for families and their support systems.

Five of the 43 children diagnosed every day do not survive. Please, support me as I help change the odds for those children most at risk.

Thank you for helping us work to tell children's cancer to take a hike!

We are so excited to participate in Ultimate Hike, a program of CureSearch for Children's Cancer! Together, we are fighting for the future every child deserves and every parent dreams of.

Thank you so much!
