2020 United CureSearch Walk - Salt Lake City

Parker's Power Warriors

Welcome to Parker's Team!!

This is our 3rd year participating in the SLC CureSearch Walk.

Parker was an energetic 2 1/2 year old, that loved to play outside and jump and wrestle with his brother. He is not a complainer, but Mom noticed he started limping on his leg on a Thursday, and did not think that much of it. She thought maybe he had a sticker in his foot. It was not until Saturday, when he started running a low grade fever and his aunt suggested he might have fractured his leg. Mom took him into InstaCare on Sunday and they did x-rays on both legs, which were negative. But because of the low grade fever and his change in eating habits the doctor ordered blood work and sent us home. We recieved a phone call explaining that his blood tests were off, he had High White Blood Count and Low Platelets. Our pediatricion called Monday morning wanting more testing done, and by 4PM that afternoon Parker was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. June 3, 2013. The day that changed our lives forever.

He has undergone chemotherapy for 3 years 2 months and 17 days. He took his last chemo pill on August 20th, 2016 and he rang the no more chemo bell just this last week on September 20th, 2016.

We are excited and blessed that Parker will be turning 6 on the day of the walk.

The Walk benefits CureSearch for Children's Cancer and the money our team raises supports their mission to fund and support targeted and innovative children's cancer research!

Come and celebrate his birthday by walking with his team!!
