About Harlan

Remarkable, vivacious, courageous. Harlan's smile and giggle will forever be remembered as infectious and constant during his nearly four years of life. Harlan's family's lives dramatically changed on February 7, 2013 when their sweet boy, Harlan "The Hero", was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor, Ependymoma. For nearly two years, our brave boy fought through his original diagnosis, relapse and everything in between. He endured multiple surgeries, 66 radiation treatments, 4 cycles of chemotherapy and countless "pokes" and "boo boos". In the 7 months before Harlan passed, he lost his ability to walk, play, express himself verbally and so much more of his independence. On October 25, 2014, Harlan gained his perfect "kind blue" wings and left his body that had been tortured for far too long. He was finally free to be the 4-year old boy he so deserved to be.

CureSearch is very near and dear to Harlan's parents. They were responsible for Harlan's treatment protocol during his battle with brain cancer. They knew that we wanted to find a way to continue giving back to this organization and what better way than creating a private event, an event in Harlan's honor, honoring so many other amazing children.

About Ultimate Hike

CureSearch is celebrating eight years of telling children's cancer to take a hike through the Ultimate Hike program. Hikers, adventurers, endurance athletes, and people who just want to make a difference come together to make a difference by taking to the trail.

CureSearch is hosting seven "traditional" Ultimate Hikes in 2018, and several major volunteer planned Hikes. In addition to our traditional and major volunteer planned Hikes, individuals and groups are invited to Create Your Adventure and plan your own hike for a cure, whether it is a group of toddlers trekking .5 miles around their preschool, a scout troop making their big 20 mile trek, or an individual scaling Kilimanjaro. No matter where and how you hike, you can add meaning to your miles by raising lifesaving funds to end children's cancer.

We could not be more pleased to be partnering with Harlan's Heroes to bring back this great event. Thank you for standing with Harlan's Heroes as they tell children's cancer to take a hike in a very big way.
